How to Install an App from an APK File on Amazon Fire TV?
Easily install apps on your Amazon Fire TV device free from Amazon’s official app store.
Do you find that the Appstore of your Amazon Fire TV device is not rich enough in applications? Never mind, the official Amazon store accessible on Fire TV devices is not the only way to install applications.
Fire OS, Amazon’s operating system that is embedded on its devices, is just a fork of Android. Simply put, Fire OS is entirely based on Google’s operating system. Therefore, it is quite possible to install applications outside the Amazon store. You can, as on the majority of Android devices, install applications from their installation file in APK format.
However, the manipulation to be carried out on Fire TV devices can be quite tedious. While there are several ways to install apps on a Fire TV device outside of the official Appstore, we’ve picked one that we think is the easiest. It consists of using an Android smartphone (or tablet) on which you will install your APK beforehand, then send it to your Fire TV. However, before you start this manipulation, you will need to prepare your Fire TV device. For example, you will have to activate the options intended for developers. This will allow you to activate some essential settings to connect your Fire TV to your Android smartphone/tablet. Here’s the whole walkthrough.
1. Download the APK file to transfer
Before you can transfer APKs to your Fire TV mod, you must first download and install them on an Android smartphone or tablet. You will indeed use your phone to transfer and install the application via a dedicated program. You will find APK installation files on our efgsplay.com site, or on dedicated platforms such as APK Mirror, one of the best known and most reputable.
2. Enable Developer Options
To install apps outside of the Amazon Appstore, you must first enable Developer Options. This is a hidden menu within which there is an essential option to be able to connect to your Fire TV device to install applications without going through the Amazon store.
To enable Developer Options, head to Device Settings, then enter the My Fire TV menu.
Then head to About, where the Fire TV Stick menu should be selected by default. Then press seven times in a row on the validation button on the remote control. A message stating that you have just enabled the options for developers should appear.
3. Enable ADB Debugging
Still in Settings on your Fire TV device, go to the My Fire TV menu, then enter the Developer Options menu.
Access the ADB Debugging menu and enable the option by pressing the enable button on the remote. An Allow USB Debugging screen should then appear on your TV. Then select OK.
4. Download Apps2Fire on your Android smartphone
On your Android smartphone, download Apps2Fire. This free application available on the Google Play Store allows you to connect your Android smartphone to your Fire TV device to send files to it, install applications, etc.
5. Connect Apps2Fire to your Fire TV
Now open the Apps2Fire application on your Android smartphone, press the options button represented by three small dots (at the top right of the screen) and press Install. Then press the Search Fire TV button. Basically, if your smartphone and your Fire TV device are connected to the same local network, Apps2Fire will automatically detect your Amazon Fire Stick. Select it to connect to it.
If Apps2Fire can’t see your Fire TV device
Apps2Fire may not be able to automatically detect your Fire TV device. If this is the case, you can always manually enter the IP address of your Amazon Fire Stick in the IP address field of your Fire TV provided for this purpose (see screenshot above). You will then only have to press Save to launch the connection between the application and your Fire TV. You’ll find your Fire TV’s IP address by going to Settings, then the About menu, where you’ll find a Network section where the device’s IP address is filled in.
6. Install an app on your Fire TV
In the Apps2Fire application, go to the Local Apps tab, then select the application present on your smartphone that you want to install on your Fire TV. In the pop-up that appears on the screen, tap Install.
Wait a few moments for Apps2Fire to finish sending and installing the app on your Fire TV device. You should see a window that says Installation Successful after installing your app on your Fire TV.
Your application is now installed on your Fire TV device, you can find it by going from the home page to My applications.
